Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Statutory Reporting Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, with a focus on statutory reporting requirements within the insurance industry. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of statutory financial statements, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze financial data and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and review statutory financial statements in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  2. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Actuarial, Finance, and Legal teams, to gather necessary data and ensure accuracy of financial reporting.
  3. Maintain a thorough understanding of statutory accounting principles and stay updated on changes in regulations impacting the insurance industry.
  4. Conduct detailed analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  5. Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance and adherence to best practices.
  6. Provide guidance and support to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  7. Serve as a subject matter expert on statutory reporting matters, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in statutory reporting within the insurance industry.
  3. Strong understanding of statutory accounting principles and regulatory requirements (e.g., NAIC, GAAP).
  4. Proficiency in financial reporting software and Microsoft Excel.
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  6. Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  7. Detail-oriented and organized, with a commitment to accuracy and precision.
