Manager - Statutory Accounting
Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite in Cincinnati, OH

Position Overview:
The company is seeking a Manager of Statutory Accounting to lead the statutory reporting and close process within a dynamic and collaborative finance team. This role will oversee the preparation of internal statutory financial reports for executive, board, and regulatory stakeholders. It will also be responsible for the completion of the Annual Statement and Risk-Based Capital (RBC) filings. The position manages a team of five accountants and reports on a hybrid basis out of the Cincinnati office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the statutory close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

  • Review and synthesize data for internal and external statutory financial reporting.

  • Apply quality control procedures and financial controls to ensure reporting accuracy.

  • Inspire and mentor the team to implement improvements in data governance and reporting practices.

  • Oversee the creation of dashboards and tools to support transparency and decision-making.

  • Ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and financial reporting standards.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on statutory accounting and industry developments.

  • Coordinate with internal departments and external auditors as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • CPA designation required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry with a focus on statutory reporting.

  • Strong knowledge of statutory accounting principles, regulatory compliance, and insurance/reinsurance industry trends.

  • Prior experience managing accounting systems and leading teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Proven leadership skills in strategic planning, resource management, and cross-functional coordination.
