The Role:
The Manager, Financial Reporting will lead the internal and external financial reporting functions, oversee key performance measures, and ensure regulatory compliance. This individual will play a pivotal role in managing the company's financial systems, guiding technical accounting, and advising senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead preparation and analysis of financial reports, including internal management reporting and external regulatory filings.
Oversee the integrity of the corporate ledger and ensure the development of scalable, high-quality financial systems and processes.
Deliver financial reporting and projections for executive leadership and the board.
Collaborate with external auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and resolve accounting issues.
Manage the chart of accounts and financial reporting hierarchies, including oversight of automated system feeds.
Support talent management within the Financial Reporting team, including recruitment, training, and performance development.
Inspire and mentor team members to maintain consistency and adopt best practices.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of statutory reports and filings.
Research and implement accounting pronouncements (GAAP and statutory) that affect reporting standards.
Partner with Actuarial and other internal departments to analyze and interpret financial results.
Identify areas to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy through innovative approaches.
Maintain compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal controls.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA, MBA, or FMLI preferred.
At least 3 years in a managerial role with a minimum of 5 years in relevant financial reporting/accounting functions.
Deep knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting, ideally within the insurance industry.
Experience working with regulatory agencies and internal/external audit teams.
Strong understanding of general ledger systems, reporting tools, and financial data analysis.
Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and improve accounting processes through technology.
