About the Family Office
We are a well-established single family office with $2 billion in assets under management, spanning public and private investments, real estate, philanthropic interests, and operating businesses. We are seeking a strategic and operationally strong Head of Finance to oversee and lead all financial functions of the family office and associated entities.
Role Overview
The Head of Finance will be responsible for the financial strategy, accounting, reporting, tax planning, cash flow management, and oversight of all financial operations across the family office structure. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong foundation in investment accounting, estate and trust structuring, and multi-entity consolidation, along with a proactive mindset for risk management and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
Partner with principals and CIO to develop long-term financial strategy and capital allocation plans.
Design and maintain financial frameworks that support investment and philanthropic goals.
Lead financial due diligence for private investments, real estate acquisitions, and direct operating business interests.
Financial Management & Oversight
Oversee all aspects of accounting and financial reporting for multiple entities (LLCs, LPs, trusts, foundations, etc.).
Manage the annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow modeling processes.
Oversee investment performance tracking, valuation methodologies, and consolidated reporting.
Lead preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements for the principals.
Tax & Compliance
Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure optimal tax efficiency and compliance across entities.
Stay current on tax laws related to high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, and philanthropic giving.
Oversee tax filings, K-1s, and related reporting.
Risk Management & Controls
Establish and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and operational best practices.
Manage banking relationships and monitor credit/liquidity positions.
Oversee insurance coverage across real estate and other assets.
Team & Vendor Management
Manage a lean internal finance team and oversee external accounting, audit, and tax partners.
Select and oversee third-party administrators, technology systems, and consultants.
Qualifications
CPA and/or CFA preferred.
10-15+ years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, ideally within a family office, private investment firm, or wealth management firm.
Deep understanding of partnership and trust accounting, investment reporting, and tax planning for ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
Prior experience managing a complex set of legal entities and asset classes.
Highly proficient in financial systems, Excel modeling, and reporting tools.
