Head of Financial Change

Location: Dallas, Texas

Compensation: Pending on candidate experience.

About the Role

We are seeking a finance change leader - not a technologist - to take on a critical leadership role in a rapidly scaling, tech-forward insurance business. This is a hands-on strategic finance change role for someone with deep experience in accounting system advisory or finance transformation within the property & casualty (P&C) insurance sector.

As Head of Financial Change, you will lead the redesign and optimization of the company's finance systems ecosystem, including core general ledger platforms, consolidation tools, reinsurance systems, and financial analytics. You'll manage a small team of experts, work closely with both finance and technology stakeholders, and play a pivotal role in ensuring the finance function is fit for scale and built to support the pace of change in the business.

This is not a role for a systems implementation professional or pure technologist. The ideal candidate will come from an advisory, accounting, or insurance finance transformation background and have first-hand experience navigating rapid change in a P&C insurance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic vision and execution of finance transformation in a fast-paced and evolving insurance business.
  • Support and modernize the finance operating model to enable accurate reporting, scalable operations, and better decision-making.
  • Oversee delivery and implementation of projects and systems change initiatives impacting financial reporting, capital, consolidation, and reinsurance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across Finance, IT, Product, and executive leadership.
  • Ensure finance system changes are appropriately governed, tested, and documented to meet internal control and audit standards.
  • Champion a culture of agility and forward-thinking within the finance function, helping the business adapt as it grows.
  • Coordinate change efforts during critical reporting cycles, including quarter-end and year-end peaks.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (CPA, CA, ACA or equivalent) or strong experience in insurance finance transformation and accounting operations. (e.g., Big 4 advisory or internal change leadership).
  • A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in in finance transformation, change management, or accounting systems advisory within insurance or financial services.
  • Must have hands-on experience implementing finance change within a P&C insurance company - advisory experience alone is not sufficient without deep insurance industry knowledge.
  • In-depth understanding of financial systems architecture, including general ledger design, subledger integration, consolidation tools, and reporting processes.
  • Deep experience working with or implementing systems , exposure to e.g., SAP, Oracle, or specialized insurance software.
  • Prior exposure to SOX, internal control frameworks, or audit preparedness is a plus.
  • Experience in a high-growth, cross-border, or multi-entity insurance company highly advantageous.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to lead at the cutting edge of insurance transformation - without sacrificing the foundation of accounting rigor. You'll be joining an ambitious, tech-forward insurance group that is reimagining how financial systems, data, and teams work together to support growth. You'll be surrounded by innovative leaders, supported by meaningful compensation, and empowered to make a lasting impact.
