A leading Insurer is seeking for a Financial Controller. The position is responsible for leading and managing the Controllership functions in the organisation by providing strategic and operational directions to the accounting and finance teams aligned with corporate guidelines.
- Provide executive oversight to Financial Accounting department in the consistent delivery of timely and accurate financial reports compliant with the different accounting standards
- Lead the Finance transformation project in enhancing the efficiency in all accounting aspects leveraging the Corporate/Regional know-hows.
- Provide senior management with key financial information that enable quality decision making
- Provide key inputs to senior management for long-term financial planning
- Provide directions on the annual budget preparation process and management of costs
- Plays a key role in setting of company policies and guidelines particularly with respect to capital and operating expenses and other internal control guidelines
- Plays a key role in the establishment and maintenance of adequate controls in key processes in the organisation
- Participate in major corporate initiatives to realise strategic growth opportunities
- Take active part in management decisions via participation in key management committees
- Provide oversight and directions to the Controllership departments to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Provide management support to the Controllership departments via provision of resources, development of accounting talents/skills and liaison with senior management for the division's requirements
- Ensure successful execution of technology projects within the division, and provide Controllership support to other operating areas
Requirements
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA)
- At least 10 years of relevant working experience in finance and accounting. Candidates with experience in banking or insurance companies will be of added advantage
- Basic knowledge in Accounting and operational systems, knowledge of the Sun Accounting System will be of added advantage
- Knowledge of IFRS will be of added advantage
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word is required
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, possess good inter-personal communication skill and a dynamic team player
