What you do today:

  • Today, you are an underwriter, broker/producer or claims handler
  • Your products are the lines of business you underwrite or place, or for which you handle claims
  • Your customer is the insured, broker or claimant, depending on your role
  • The systems that support you are policy administration, quote tools, agency management, claims management, CRM, CAT modeling, and similar

What you'll do in this new role:

  • Your new product is the data within your area of expertise. You're the expert on it. You own it.
  • Your customers are IT, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Report Writers and Actuaries
  • Your suppliers are distribution and marketing, member management, operations, underwriting, claims, reinsurance and third-party data providers
  • The system that supports you is a data intelligence platform that is easier and more enjoyable to use than traditional insurance technology
  • THIS IS NOT A TECH ROLE. THIS IS A BUSINESS ROLE. YOU DO NOT NEED TO CODE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fueling innovative analytics, models and processes through data
  • Unifying definitions of your data
  • Managing quality, flow/lineage and usage
  • Managing new data as it becomes available, and proactively working with suppliers to obtain data we do not have or wish to enrich
  • Finding and managing new sources of data, based on your expertise
  • Working with suppliers to resolve data issues that arise
  • Be a key influencer across the organization for Accelerant's data strategy

Experience and Skills:

  • You could write the book on data definitions in your area of expertise
  • You know what data is valuable and have a wish list of data that would be innovative for your area of business expertise
  • You have a solid background in your business area and you're interested in expanding your skills to include data
  • You've lived through data quality issues, lack of data and legacy systems, and you're ready to shape the future
