Senior Solution Engineer driving SAP FS-RI reinsurance system architecture, design, and delivery in an Agile environment. Acts as technical lead and product owner, managing configuration, ABAP enhancements, FS-CD integration, and complex interfaces. Supports a greenfield implementation and future roadmap to scale Aflac's reinsurance business.
Role Overview
The Senior Solution Engineer will serve as the technical lead, solution architect, and product owner for the implementation and ongoing support of a greenfield SAP FS-RI (Reinsurance Management) platform and its integration with SAP FS-CD (Collections and Disbursements) and other enterprise systems. This role combines deep SAP functional knowledge with hands-on ABAP development, system configuration, and Agile delivery leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture and Product Ownership
Lead end-to-end system design, blueprinting, and technical governance for SAP FS-RI implementations.
Translate reinsurance business requirements into scalable technical solutions, including custom enhancements and interfaces.
Own the product backlog and prioritize feature delivery in an Agile environment.
Establish and maintain architectural standards, configuration guides, and integration patterns.
ABAP Development and Enhancement Delivery
Develop custom code (ABAP) to extend FS-RI capabilities, including:
User exits
Custom reports
Specialized settlement logic
Retrocession processing
Integration routines with actuarial and finance systems
Review and approve technical designs from internal developers and consultants.
FS-CD Integration and Financial Controls
Ensure accurate flow of reinsurance premiums, recoveries, and commissions into FS-CD collections and disbursements.
Design reconciliation processes to maintain financial compliance and audit readiness.
Support testing and validation of end-to-end settlement and accounting flows.
Interface Design and Agile Delivery
Define and implement interfaces between SAP FS-RI/FS-CD and third-party or internal applications (for example, actuarial valuation tools and data warehouses).
Guide data migration and conversion efforts.
Drive Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management.
Support post-go-live stabilization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills and Experience
Deep SAP FS-RI Expertise
Multiple full lifecycle implementations of SAP FS-RI, with strong understanding of reinsurance contract setup, cash flow modeling, and settlement processing.
Knowledge of SAP FS-CD and its role as a subledger for reinsurance transactions.
ABAP Development and Technical Leadership
Advanced ABAP coding skills for configuration, enhancements, and interfaces.
Familiarity with AQL or SQL for specialized reporting and queries.
Ability to mentor junior developers and review technical deliverables.
Solution Architecture and Integration Design
Proven experience designing complex integrations between SAP and non-SAP systems.
Strong understanding of system security, data governance, and regulatory considerations.
Agile Product Ownership
Experience owning the product road map and backlog in an Agile or hybrid delivery environment.
Skilled in stakeholder management, requirements gathering, and release planning.
Insurance and Reinsurance Domain Knowledge
Working knowledge of reinsurance business processes, accounting, and reporting.
Understanding of collections/disbursements and retro cession work flows.
Preferred Qualifications
SAP certifications in FS-RI or FS-CD.
Experience with large-scale ERP transformations in insurance or financial services.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across business and technical teams.
