Oliver James have been exclusively engaged by a top life and annuity insurer and reinsurer to find a VP of Finance Strategy. This is a high profile role supporting the Group CFO and a number of Finance/Accounting executives across the finance department with finance business partnering, strategy, non-routine transactions, capital raising and finance communication.

This role can sit in NYC, Charlotte, Hartford or Bermuda

Compensation ranges from 300-350k all in.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Enablement of Finance Strategy including working closely with the CFO on upcoming acquisitions, integration and improvement activities
  • Engage with CFO direct reports and communicate critical deliverables on behalf of CFO (i.e., timely submission of materials, quarterly functional objective submissions, HR requirements)
  • Perform research on regulatory, accounting, operational and capital matters
  • Ad-hoc financial modelling and analysis on upcoming M&A transactions, integrations and special projects.
  • Creation of task management methodologies enabling key actions/deadlines to be monitored across the Finance leadership team
  • Prepare and/or review internal and external communications
  • Manage Investor Relations mailbox, coordinate with analysts regarding material preparation for CFO
  • Prepare presentation materials with high content quality for executive management and the board

Person Specifications:

  • Prior experience in a Financial Reporting / Controllership capacity required with a combination of 5+ years of experience in a project management, chief of staff or corporate development capacity
  • CPA, MBA or Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or similar
  • Experience in the insurance industry with high preference for life, annuities or reinsurance experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint skills
  • Excel skills must include the ability to create crisp charts and graphs based upon data provided
  • Strong experience with Adobe or PDF products
  • Hands-on experience with document management and delivery of materials via secure board/management portals
