Job Opportunity: Underwriter, Engineering & Construction

Construction & Engineering Underwriter
Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Employment Type: Permanent

We are currently supporting an international specialty insurer in the search for a Construction & Engineering Underwriter to join their Zurich team.

This role focuses on underwriting Contractors All Risks (CAR) and Erection All Risks (EAR) risks - both on a single project and annual basis - across the EMEA region, with a particular emphasis on German-speaking markets and continental Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and manage a profitable Construction & Engineering portfolio aligned with global underwriting strategy

  • Assess risks technically and apply appropriate terms and conditions

  • Develop broker and client relationships and support business development in target regions

  • Collaborate closely with international underwriting teams and contribute to global initiatives

  • Ensure accurate data management and support ongoing portfolio monitoring

  • Participate in client meetings and site visits (10-20 travel days annually)

Your Profile:

  • At least 5 years of underwriting experience, ideally within international construction risks

  • Strong exposure to the DACH markets is essential

  • Background in mechanical engineering or related field, or relevant professional insurance qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-oriented mindset

  • Proactive, detail-focused, and comfortable working in an international environment

  • Fluent in German and English
