Our client is a diversified insurance holding company and a rapidly emerging player in the insurance market, providing property and casualty, and life and health insurance in the United States. The business has won a series of notable achievements such as fastest growing financial services firm in the Fortune 500 and tripling it's revenue over the last five years.

Due to this significant growth, our client is seek a Tax Director to lead tax reporting for the group. The successful candidate will work with businesses, service providers, and other tax professionals in carrying out the below responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the completion of federal, state, and local income tax returns including all related analysis and support.
  • Responsible for audits of federal and state income tax and state and local filings.
  • Responsible for accounting for income taxes on both GAAP and Statutory basis of accounting.
  • Coordination of accounting for income taxes.
  • Coordination of accounting for income taxes.
  • Responsible for transfer pricing and management fee arrangements.
  • Federal, state, and local tax set up for internal payroll.
  • Liaison with operating management on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues.
  • Ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting for income taxes.
  • Departmental liaison with IT staff on all technical matters relating to tax applications.
  • Assisting the Head of Tax with tax planning issues as required.
  • Assist the Head of Tax in estimating and monitoring annual cash taxes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Accounting. Master's Degree in Business Taxation preferred.
  • JD and/or CPA highly regarded.
  • Property and casualty insurance highly regarded.
  • Ten years of related experience with at least 3 years in a public accounting firm.
  • Strong partnership and collaborative style with excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Advanced Excel and modeling skills; ERP and BI or comparable systems knowledge.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and creative skills and possesses the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
  • Ability to manage/lead cross functional teams in a fast paced, dynamic environment, to think strategically, act tactically & influence across the organization.
  • Excellent program management and project management skills.
