Oliver James is working with a blockchain company based in Switzerland to join their internal research team, focussing on Systems & Security research. This business is a leading provider of distributed ledger technology, who works with some of the world's largest companies. This is a rare opportunity to help define an industry and join a dynamic team of technology innovators.

As a member of the team as a researcher engineer, you will have the unique chance to shape a novel and security-critical technology while also addressing the production problems of such a system for demanding use cases in industries like healthcare, supply chain, and finance.

This role will require a mix of an academic and practical background, with prior experience of implementing research into real life solutions.

In your role as a Security Researcher:

  • Design, implement, and provide new features to address difficult distributed systems and security issues.
  • Write largely Scala code, rigorously test it, and document its features for users.
  • Write and publish research papers about our technology and related studies.
  • Collaborate with different teams to contribute to the general architecture of our technology.
  • Adopt a collaborative strategy that encourages, appreciates, and demands varied viewpoints.

Core Requirements:

  • You're an experienced systems or security researcher with a solid software engineering background.
  • You have an impressive track record of publishing at prestigious systems or security conferences.
  • You've put your research into practise, either through open-source initiatives or by turning your study into a product.
  • You appreciate cooperating with others and working in groups.
  • PhD in computer science or a related field, or comparable experience.

Helpful if:

  • Your research background is in distributed systems (e.g., consensus protocols), systems or information security, formal methods, applied cryptography.
  • You're comfortable creating Scala production code.
  • You call Switzerland home.
