Role Title:
ServiceNow - IT Configuration, Asset and Lifecycle Manager
Key Points:
This senior role will provide support during the implementation of a world-class Service Management solution, and ultimately manage the lifecycle of Technology assets within an ITSM Configuration Management database.
With a strong focus on solution strategy, business change, and technology operations, you will work with a variety of colleagues across our global corporation to deliver an effective governance framework to provide the end-to-end delivery of configuration management services in accordance with the configuration management plan.
Covering people, processes, and technology you will embed yourself in end-user and technical communities to act as both a champion of the end user, and a guide for effective ongoing operation and support of Configuration Management database, whilst ensuring consistent execution and adherence to configuration management process across all Technology departments.
Client Details:
You will represent a renowned UK business in global working groups to define standards and share our success stories, whilst engaging with local teams in on and off-shore locations to establish and communicate the goals and objectives of configuration management in alignment with other IT Service Management disciplines.
The role will be based in the UK, working in Southampton at least 2 days per working week. No travel to other locations is expected.
The Role:
- Managing the day-to-day activities of the Configuration Management practice, including establishing priorities and work assignments
- Development and ongoing management of all CMDB policies and procedures
- Tracking compliance to policies and procedures, whilst ensuring accuracy of data held within the CMDB
- Escalation of compliance issues whilst working with all Technology groups to understand reasons for any non-compliance
- Responsible for Configuration Management audits
- Review critical incident outage resolution results and responses to define if CMDB data could be improved to better manage incident resolution
- Facilitate communication and engagement with the Business and Technology management to encourage Configuration Management efforts and value proposition
- Engage with Projects Managers to ensure Configuration Management can support project initiatives
- To be an integral part of the Change Advisory Board
- Review significant IT infrastructure and service changes to ensure the impact to configuration management data are properly addressed
- Mentor the organisation on Configuration Management services, concepts, policies and procedures
- Chairs the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and enacts changes as directed
- Provides and approves all requirements, use cases, user stories, etc. in support of new or improving functionality of the CMDB
- Work to fulfil Configuration Management Service Requests as assigned
- Run and deliver Configuration Management reports as required
- Identification of Service Improvement opportunities
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications required:
Qualifications - Desirable:
- ServiceNow Fundamentals
- ServiceNow ITSM fundamentals
- ServiceNow Configuration Management
- Database Fundamentals (CMDBF)
- ServiceNow CSDM fundamentals
- ServiceNow Event Management fundamentals
- ServiceNow Discovery Fundamentals
- ServiceNow Service Mapping Fundamentals / implementation
Experience - Required:
- Excellent, hands-on experience of ServiceNow ITOM Discovery and ITSM modules
- Previous experience in developing a Configuration Management framework and support policies / procedures
- Excellent communication skills
- Effective collaborator
- The ability to focus and prioritise in a high-pressure environment
- Analytical with a high degree of attention to detail
- Experience of working in an ITIL aligned organization
- Environment management and configuration management experience within a similar organisation.
