Senior Tax Accountant | Financial Services Industry

A well-established organization in the financial services industry is looking to add a Senior Tax Accountant to its team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced tax professional who wants to expand their expertise across corporate and partnership taxation while working in a collaborative, high-performing environment. The role offers visibility across departments and the chance to contribute to a variety of tax initiatives, including provisions, compliance, and credit investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to federal, state, and local tax notices by researching issues, coordinating responses, and tracking resolutions through completion.

  • Partner with tax leadership on technical research and documentation, including tax memos, written guidance, and analysis of complex tax positions.

  • Work with external tax advisors to support timely and accurate preparation of domestic and international tax filings.

  • Maintain and monitor the performance of the organization's tax credit investment portfolio, including renewable energy and historic credit vehicles, and stay current on related tax legislation.

  • Prepare and analyze income tax provisions in compliance with ASC 740 and SSAP 101, supporting quarterly and year-end close cycles.

  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing workpapers, supporting schedules, and reconciliations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams-finance, legal, investment, and others-to provide tax insight and ensure compliance on strategic initiatives.

  • Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for corporate and partnership entities, including estimated payments and extensions.

  • Contribute to ad hoc projects across the tax function and broader finance organization, helping streamline processes and support business goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

  • CPA designation preferred but not required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department; experience with life insurance tax (Subchapter L) is a plus

  • Solid understanding of ASC 740, SSAP 101, and tax compliance for corporate and partnership structures

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with tax software platforms such as OneSource Income Tax (ExpressRS/GoSystems preferred)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and explain complex tax and financial documents

  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
