Senior Tax Accountant | Financial Services Industry
A well-established organization in the financial services industry is looking to add a Senior Tax Accountant to its team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced tax professional who wants to expand their expertise across corporate and partnership taxation while working in a collaborative, high-performing environment. The role offers visibility across departments and the chance to contribute to a variety of tax initiatives, including provisions, compliance, and credit investments.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to federal, state, and local tax notices by researching issues, coordinating responses, and tracking resolutions through completion.
Partner with tax leadership on technical research and documentation, including tax memos, written guidance, and analysis of complex tax positions.
Work with external tax advisors to support timely and accurate preparation of domestic and international tax filings.
Maintain and monitor the performance of the organization's tax credit investment portfolio, including renewable energy and historic credit vehicles, and stay current on related tax legislation.
Prepare and analyze income tax provisions in compliance with ASC 740 and SSAP 101, supporting quarterly and year-end close cycles.
Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing workpapers, supporting schedules, and reconciliations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams-finance, legal, investment, and others-to provide tax insight and ensure compliance on strategic initiatives.
Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for corporate and partnership entities, including estimated payments and extensions.
Contribute to ad hoc projects across the tax function and broader finance organization, helping streamline processes and support business goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
CPA designation preferred but not required
Minimum 3 years of experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department; experience with life insurance tax (Subchapter L) is a plus
Solid understanding of ASC 740, SSAP 101, and tax compliance for corporate and partnership structures
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with tax software platforms such as OneSource Income Tax (ExpressRS/GoSystems preferred)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and explain complex tax and financial documents
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
