Senior Field Underwriter within Commercial Lines, you will serve as a vital representative of my client within the Tennessee region. You will be responsible for managing and servicing a profitable book of Commercial Lines business, leveraging your advanced technical underwriting skills. Your role will involve territory planning, performance analysis, and agency management to optimize production, profitability, and client retention. Mentorship of junior field underwriters and agency partners will also be a key aspect of your role.

  • Act as the primary contact for designated agencies, leading business planning and account inventory management.
  • Proactively develop a pipeline of new business well before policy expiration to achieve profitability targets.
  • Facilitate monthly discussions on renewal strategies with the underwriting and services team to ensure effective management of individual renewals.
  • Regularly review the new business pipeline, assessing opportunities and establishing strong underwriting relationships with policyholders.

  • Assess loss exposures, determine pricing, and make decisions on account acceptability based on underwriting criteria.
  • Document underwriting decisions and maintain necessary records in accordance with audit standards throughout the policy lifecycle.
  • Complete the Account Summary document to capture account details, and share insights from accounts that were not secured to enhance sales strategies and competitive knowledge.
  • Review and decide on underwriting authority referrals from junior field underwriters or managers; engage in state planning processes, including rate reviews and annual projections.
  • Serve as the Account Steward, ensuring that all commitments to clients are fulfilled, and maintain regular communication with policyholders.
  • Establish and sustain effective communication regarding underwriting procedures, growth and profit objectives, state issues, industry trends, and agency relations.
  • Participate in quality assurance audits and contribute to projects aimed at enhancing underwriting practices, including recommendations for improvements in coverage, pricing, or competitiveness.
