Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Architect, design, develop, update, and optimize Power BI dashboards, reports, and scorecards to meet business requirements.
  • Utilize Power BI's navigation features effectively to create compelling data-driven stories for users.
  • Design, publish, and maintain Power BI data models with multiple interrelated tables, supporting visualization and analysis in Excel.
  • Document solutions and collaborate with analysts to refine user stories.
  • Develop calculations using DAX and work closely with analysts and product managers to understand and formulate requirements.
  • Integrate various data sources with Power BI, including Snowflake, Azure, and SQL Server.
  • Handle large datasets efficiently and process them into required formats.
  • Implement row-level security and understand application security layers in Power BI.
  • Responsible for design methodology and product documentation, including developing tabular and multidimensional models compliant with data warehouse standards.

Job Specifications:

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Expertise in BI tools such as Power BI and Snowsight.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft BI stack and strong data analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL and DAX, with scripting languages like R and Python considered a plus.
  • Experience with Cloud platforms, particularly Azure, and Big Data platforms like Snowflake.
  • Competent in developing engaging and effective data visualizations.
  • In-depth understanding of the Power BI Service and its suite of products (e.g., Report Builder, Reporting Services).
  • Knowledge of Cognos and SSAS is beneficial.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including executives, and provide advice and support.
  • Track record of working in an Agile environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience across all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Preferred experience in the P&C Insurance domain or Financial Services industry.
  • Familiarity with custom visuals, dynamic reporting, best practices in data modeling, row-level security, and Analyze in Excel.
  • Experience with Power BI Admin functions.
