The Performance Analyst is responsible for calculating, analyzing, and reporting performance returns and risk statistics for firm portfolios, strategy composites, and benchmarks. The individual serves as an analytical resource for the portfolio management and marketing departments

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Calculate, analyze, and report portfolio, security, and benchmark performance. Investigate and resolve any data issues.
  • Prepare and explain attribution analysis
  • Prepare and organize portfolio analysis for client reports and prospective client presentations
  • Assist with maintenance of firm strategy composites and preparation of Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS)-compliant performance presentations
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from Portfolio Managers and the Marketing department
  • Conduct checks of other team members' work to ensure it is error-free
  • Perform project work as directed

Required

(Candidate must be present in-office for a minimum of 2-3 days a week)

Position Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills and Microsoft Office skills
  • Work experience that has provided the candidate with exposure to investment accounting, administration, and reporting
  • Familiarity with or eagerness to learn the conventions of performance and risk measurement and analysis
  • Ability to work independently, and within a team, on a variety of projects, receive instructions from a number of people and meet project deadlines
  • Ability to produce accurate work in a timely fashion under the pressure of deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree plus 1-3 years of work experience as a performance analyst, or other role that provided experience with the formulas, calculations, and mathematics of performance and risk measurement
  • Ability to prioritize and complete several scheduled and ad hoc assignments within tight time frames

Preferred

  • Accounting, Finance or other technical background and experience
  • Working knowledge of macros and VBA
  • Working knowledge of using SQL queries
  • Interest in pursuing the CFA or CIPM programs and/or interest in pursuing an MBA
  • Experience with any of the following applications: Eagle, AXYS, FactSet, CAPS, Bloomberg or another composite maintenance software
