PURPOSE

Define and set the actuarial and data analytics vision and strategy. Deliver the strategy by creating and developing enablers including people, processes and technology. Promote and create a data-driven culture to embed data and analysis into the business decision making process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Involved in the strategic direction of the GI portfolio from business planning, product initiatives, partnerships, marketing and cost efficiencies
  • Manage the valuation and pricing of the GI portfolio, including:
    • Providing inputs and / or insights to key stakeholders for regulatory, management reporting, Group Office reporting
    • Ensuring the data quality of GI actuarial data needs
    • Liaising with Group Actuarial and local teams for Product Approval Requirement
  • Lead portfolio monitoring, analysis and presentation to Product Management Committee and collaborate with other functions to implement decisions
  • Drive the negotiation and placement of reinsurance contracts. Review quarterly RI bordereaux, statement of accounts, RI premiums
  • Define the Data Analytics vision and strategy across people, process and technology to grow the company's use of data in its decision making
  • Develop Advanced Analytics capabilities that can be integrated and deliver value into the business, and future proof the team's technical and personal capabilities
  • Drive Data Governance in the company, including selecting the right tool / software and target operating model and stakeholder management
  • Lead the Data Analytics in the engagement with other functions to make information available for reporting, business monitoring and analytics

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 8+ years of General Insurance experience
  • Experience of working with Personal Lines underwriters and pricing tools
  • Experience with defining and setting data strategy in an insurance context
  • Experience in building AI / ML operations from a people, technology and process point of view
  • Proficient with Excel and VBA; Working knowledge of SQL, Access, AWS, Python and / or Sagemaker
  • Innovator and keeping up with new technology; genuine interest using technology to solve business problems
  • Energetic self-starter with the ability to work and influence at all levels of the organisation
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain Actuarial concepts in simple terms
