This role will work in partnership with the Treasury function to help optimise strategies and ensure that all accounting impacts and considerations are transparent and comprehensively evaluated

Responsibilities:

  • Drive greater transparency of the accounting implications of Treasury decisions by working with the Technical Accounting and Treasury teams to provide clear technical guidance to Treasury, resulting in more informed decision making.
  • Analyse Treasury performance and evaluate opportunities to create additional value, through the delivery of enhanced monthly reporting packs.
  • Support and challenge new Treasury proposals, balance sheet strategies and pricing decisions, ensuring clarity over the structure and financial implications of new Treasury deals.
  • Produce and present analytics to understand the viability of new strategies as Treasury continue to diversify the managed liquidity portfolio, working collaboratively with Treasury and the Finance teams to ensure the validity of financials.
  • Lead an overhaul of the internal and external swaps reporting process, engaging with key stakeholders in Treasury and ALM to ensure a transparent and agreed approach resulting in improved variance analysis and forecasting.
  • Understand market changes and proactively develop solutions in collaboration with the Treasury team.
  • Help develop systems and processes to support future funding, hedging and investment plans.
  • Support and guide Treasury in the face of regulatory change.
  • Challenge activities, systems and processes of the Finance teams and drive continual improvement.
  • Play an active role in the wider team and function, aware of wider team and function objectives and performance.
  • Deliver a flexible approach and to be able to support the line manager, other team members, wider business colleagues and other functions in ad hoc activities.

  • Identify, define and manage risks associated with team and/or service delivery.

Skills:

  • Accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or equivalent
  • Highly numerate, intellectually strong and capable of digesting and interpreting technical information
  • Rigorous, methodical and well organised with excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver to deadline
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Identifies and delivers process improvement and positive change
  • Able to identify and address key risks/implications
  • Able to manage their own workload to ensure that activities are correctly prioritised and that all interested parties are aware of responsibilities, deadlines and progress
  • Detailed knowledge of the main Microsoft applications and the current MI / finance systems utilised by the business
  • Able to review, manage and develop new financial and analytical models

Experience:

  • Experience of working within a Treasury or related accounting function
  • Understanding of the financial services regulatory environment
  • Good awareness of competitive environment and competitor activity
