My client is a leading insurer seeking someone experienced in data analytics. This person will be responsible for the strategy between data analytics and business functions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyse and report management data to support decisions on day-to-day operations, strategic planning and specific business performance issues
  • Retrieve, analyse and summarise business, operations, customer and economic data in order to develop business intelligence and optimise effectiveness
  • Prepare ongoing reports and data visualisations including charts, dashboards, heat maps
  • Design an analytics campaigns that you will plan and execute on a group-wide analytics plan that will directly contribute to the achievement of the growth goals across all holdings under the company
  • Ensure data best practices and be a thought leader in building a data informed culture
  • Leverage our data analytics and data science resources to offer actionable insights
  • Define and build processes, only to break them down and evolve them again, as the business needs evolve
  • Provide timely turnarounds on requests for one off projects that support key company initiatives and partnerships

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in a numerate discipline e.g. Data Science, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Computer Science with a strong computer programming component;
  • At least 8 of years working experience, with extensive hands-on experience in developing AI and Machine Learning solutions;
  • Insurance or Big 4 industry experience
  • Proven hands-on experience in the use of at least one advanced data analysis platform (e.g. Python, R, SAS);
  • Exposure to all stages of data analytics project lifecycle (scope definition, data requirements, extraction, exploration, transformation, solution development, tracking);
  • Demonstrable understanding of data quality risks and ability to carry out necessary exploratory data analysis and quality checks to validate results obtained;
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree, random forest, artificial neural networks, etc.);
  • Tenacious, with a desire to 'get to the bottom' of things with sound logical reasoning and deep analytical ability;
  • Excellent relationship management, strong team building, and the ability to work across business units and functions to drive positive business outcomes;
  • Sound knowledge of programming in SQL or other programming experience;
  • Articulate, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Adaptable, able to interact and build strong relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds;
  • Fast learner with a willing attitude. Intellectually rigorous, with strong analytical skills and a passion for data;
  • Experience in big data environment and tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Datameer is desirable
