Oliver James are currently partnered with a UK based Law Firm in their search for a Compliance Manager to be based in London.

Key Responsibilities

-Acting as the interface between the COLP / MLRO, Management partner and the business

-Direct line management of compliance analysts and administrators in the team

-Allocating work within the team to ensure the CDD process and screening for PEPs, Sanctions, Adverse Media is conducted efficiently

-Checking all CDDs conducted by the team and approving the system for time recording

-Providing training and support to the team, fee-earners and business service staff

-Undertaking appraisals for the team

-Managing all internal compliance systems and e-verification tools

-Responding and dealing with escalated and high risk queries from the team and escalating to senior management where appropriate

-Keeping up to date with all sanction regime updates

-Reviewing and assisting with client risk assessments and the firm wide risk assessment

-Reviewing and assisting with complicated client and beneficial owner identification

-Administering ongoing monitoring and enhanced due diligence procedures

-Working with the MLRO, COO and Management Partner to help build a centralised risk function

-Identifying process improvements, proposing new approaches and implementing agreed outcomes

The successful candidate will have the following:

-4 years experience working within a compliance function in a legal business

-Exposure to risk assessment is essential

-Ability to use own initiative, considering the needs of clients, partners and other stakeholders around the business

-Professional approach and ability to manage own work load

-Confidence to respond and deal with general compliance queries from colleagues around the firm

-Strong attention to detail and an ability to handle confidential information in a professional and discreet manner

-Analytical thinker, with sound communication skills and the ability to articulate reasoning and arguments clearly and succinctly

-Ability and confidence to manage a compliance team

-Confidence and interest in working with senior members of the firm to explore broadening the compliance department to incorporate risk oversight and management
