Chief Financial Officer
Location: Hybrid (Hartford CT, or Jersey City NJ)
Executive Leadership | Insurance Finance | GAAP & Statutory Reporting
Summary
A high-impact, hands-on CFO is needed to lead all financial functions for a multi-entity organization. This executive will oversee a team of 35-40 across reporting, planning, treasury, and compliance, while serving as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team. The ideal candidate brings deep financial expertise, leadership ability, and a strong grasp of operational and capital strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and performance reporting across business units
Oversee GAAP, statutory, and management reporting, with a focus on KPI-driven insights
Maintain and enhance internal controls, financial policies, and audit readiness
Manage treasury, tax, investment accounting, accounts receivable, and premium audit functions
Serve as a liaison to rating agencies, auditors, regulators, investment managers, and banks
Partner with actuarial teams on reserve adequacy and profitability insights
Ensure alignment of financial operations with strategic and capital allocation priorities
Build and lead a high-performing finance team with a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CPA/CFA preferred
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting, and financial controls
Experience managing cross-functional finance teams in complex environments
Excellent communication skills and executive presence
Background in insurance or financial services preferred
Ability to work onsite at least three days per week in one of the listed office locations
